  • Chemistry Minor

    Hours: 20-23 credits, all completed with grades of C or better

    At least nine chemistry credits applied toward the minor must be completed at UF.

    Students pursuing a botany or chemical engineering major are not eligible to receive the minor in chemistry.

    Required Courses

    General chemistry sequence:
    CHM 2045 and 2045L General Chemistry 1 and Lab, 4 credits, and
    CHM 2046 and 2046L General Chemistry 2 and Lab, 4 credits
    OR
    CHM 2047 and 2047L One Semester General Chemistry and Laboratory (5 credits)
    (CHM 2054L may be substituted for CHM 2045L/2046L or 2047L.)

    Analytical chemistry sequence:
    CHM 3120 and 3120L Analytical Chemistry and Laboratory
    4
    Organic chemistry sequence:
    CHM 2210 Organic Chemistry 1, 3 credits, and
    CHM 2211 Organic Chemistry 2, 3 credits, and
    CHM 2211L Organic Chemistry Laboratory, 2 credits
    OR
    CHM 3217 Organic Chemistry/Biochemistry 1, 4 credits, and
    CHM 3218 Organic Chemistry/Biochemistry 2, 4 credits, and
    CHM 2211L Organic Chemistry Laboratory, 2 credits
    8 or 10
    Choose one:
    CHM 3218 Organic Chemistry/Biochemistry 2, 4 credits (if organic chemistry sequence is met with CHM 2210/2211/2211L)
    CHM 3400 Physical Chemistry, 3 credits
