  • Mathematics Minor

    Hours: 23-24 credits, all completed with grades of C or better

    The minor in mathematics is open to all students who are not majoring in mathematics.

    The three 4000-level electives in the table below must be taken from the UF Department of Mathematics. No substitutions from other institutions or departments are allowed. A prerequisite for admission to the minor is prior completion of one of these 4000-level courses with a grade of C+ or better.

    Of the total credits, no more than three may be individual work.

    Required Courses

    Calculus 2:
    MAC 2312 Analytic Geometry and Calculus 2 OR
    MAC 2512 Calculus 2 for Advanced Placement Students OR
    MAC 3473 Honors Calculus 2

    Calculus 3:
    MAC 2313 Analytic Geometry and Calculus 3 OR
    MAC 3474 Honors Calculus 3

    Differential Equations:
    MAP 2302 Elementary Differential Equations
    3
    Linear Algebra:
    MAS 4105 Linear Algebra 1 (4 credits) OR
    MAS 3114 Computational Linear Algebra (3 credits)

    Electives

    Three 3-credit courses at the 4000-level or above with prefixes MAA, MAD, MAP, MAS (excluding MAS 4105), MHF or MTG.
    All three courses must be taken at UF.
