Forest Health Management

certificate

The Forest Health Management Certificate prepares students with existing backgrounds in natural resources and forestry to work in a proactive capacity to address and monitor forest pests and pathogens to protect forest health. The certificate prepares students to work in government agencies, nonprofits, and in the private sector in a forest health and resilience capacity.

About this Program

School Information

The School of Forest, Fisheries, and Geomatics Sciences is a unit within the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) and the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS). The school is home to three distinct yet integrated program areas: Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, Forest Resources and Conservation, and Geomatics. The school’s faculty, staff, and students conduct research, teaching, and extension that cuts across a wide range of environments and disciplines.

Certificate Requirements

  • Current FRC majors only by special permission from SFFGS Undergraduate Coordinator via a Pre-Enrollment Survey.
  • Completion of course prerequisites for the certificate courses.
  • Ability to complete at least 6 credits after admission to program.
  • Writing a summative essay on the student’s experience and connect it to forest health and resilience issues.
