The History Minor offers a dynamic blend of traditional historical methods and innovative approaches to study the past. Through the exploration of diverse periods, cultures, and peoples, students develop critical thinking, research, writing, and oral and digital communication skills essential for understanding the complexities of the past. 

About this Program

Department Information

Undergraduate students in the Department of History come to the program as four-year residential students, PaCE students, and as transfers from Florida state colleges and out-of-state institutions. They join a large, diverse, and active community of faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates. Program highlights include a vibrant Honors Program, engaged student organizations, and numerous opportunities for undergraduate research.

Requirements

  • Only 3 credits may be taken at the 1000/2000 level
  • Transfer students must take at least 9 credits of history at UF.
  • All 15 credits for the minor must be taken in courses with the prefix AFH, AMH, ASH, EUH, HIS, LAH, or WOH
  • Students must complete a minimum of 6 credits of coursework exclusive to the minor that cannot count toward the major(s) or other minors.
