Department Information

The mission of the Department of Statistics is to provide its students with a fundamental understanding of statistical reasoning and methodology, to train them to apply this knowledge to the collection and analysis of data, and to prepare them for careers in a highly technological society in which science and decision-making are increasingly driven by a rapid expansion in the quantity and availability of data.

 Curriculum

The prescribed curriculum encompasses the requisite content for both the Actuarial Examinations P/1 and FM/2, as well as fulfills the Validation by Educational Experience (VEE) credits, thereby culminating in eligibility for an associateship within the prominent national actuarial organizations.

A minimum of 12 credits in the topics of Economics, Accounting and Finance, and Mathematical Statistics must be completed at UF. VEE credits require minimum grades of B- in designated courses.
